Pupil Premium
At Jacksdale Primary & Nursery School, we are committed to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential. The Pupil Premium Grant is additional government funding provided to support disadvantaged pupils and improve their educational outcomes.
Who is Eligible?
The funding is allocated to pupils who:
- Have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years.
- Are currently or have previously been looked after by a local authority.
- Have parents serving in the regular armed forces (Service Pupil Premium).
How is the Funding Used?
Pupil Premium is not a personal budget for individual children. Instead, it is used to provide targeted support, interventions, and wider school initiatives that benefit eligible pupils and others with similar needs. This may include:
- High-quality teaching and additional academic support.
- Wellbeing and pastoral care initiatives.
- Enrichment activities to enhance learning experiences.
In 2023-2024 we worked in partnership with the Nottinghamshire County Council Pupil Premium Advisor, Koni Rakhit to ensure our strategy was focused and the spending allocations were tightly aligned with information held about the children in the school. This identified that we had historically focused a significant proportion of our allocated funding on children's engagement, social, emotional and mental health, as well as allocating a significant proportion of the funding to inclusion, such as trips, breakfast clubs and attendance at extra-curricular events. Following the review, the funding has been realigned to focus on pupils' academic attainment and progress, alongside prioritising regular attendance at school.
Funding Rates
For 2024-2025, schools receive:
- £1,480 per eligible primary-aged pupil.
- £2,570 for looked-after children.
- Additional funding for service children.
Our Commitment & Accountability
As a school, we are required to publish an annual Pupil Premium Strategy Statement detailing how we use this funding to support our pupils. Our approach is reviewed regularly and subject to Ofsted Inspections and oversight from governors to ensure maximum impact.
