Jacksdale Primary & Nursery School is a Nottinghamshire maintained primary school situated in the heart of  Jacksdale village. As a maintained school, our governing body plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction and overseeing the performance of our school.

Our Governors' Mission

Our goal as a school is to equip our young people with the skills and mindset to thrive and then take their place in the world - wherever that may be!

We foster an enthusiastic, creative community of learners who are prepared to continue their academic, emotional, and physical development at secondary school and beyond.  We aim to educate all students to succeed and reach their maximum potential, and to prepare them to become happy, kind, productive, responsible and compassionate members of society who contribute to the world in a positive way.

Our vision is to empower students to acquire, demonstrate, articulate and value knowledge and skills that will support them, as life-long learners; to participate in and contribute to the global world and practise the core values of the school: respect, tolerance, inclusion, and kindness.

We believe that education should take place in a fully inclusive environment with equal opportunities for all and that all children should learn to value cultural and diversity differences. Our school strives to be at the centre of the local community with positive and effective links to the wider and global communities.

The Role of our Governing Body

Our governing body is responsible for raising school standards through their three key strategic functions:

1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
2. Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school, its pupils and the performance management of staff
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school – making sure its money is well spent
